We are currently seeking a Assistant Vessel Manager to join our growing team!

Position Overview:

Will assist the Vessel Manager with all duties associated with Management of NRC vessel while moored in standby mode or engaged in dry-dock activities. Command vessel and crew for response to marine oil spills, environmental emergencies, or transit of vessel to and from dry-dock, training, relocation due to weather or other direction from Director of Marine Operations and/or Regional Manager.

"On Call" to respond to marine casualty and oil spill incidents 24/7

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Work safely and obey Safety Management System and Programs.

+ Maintaining vessel in accordance with ABS and CG regulations. Assist with periodic routine ABS and CG inspections and surveys.

+ Actively participate in all training and drills.

+ Ensuring safety of crew, equipment, visitors and vessel at all times.

+ Ensuring vessel is maintained in a state of readiness for Spill and Emergency Response, Maintain vessel and spill response equipment in good working order.

+ Perform and/or supervise on-board maintenance with various pneumatic and electric power tools.

+ Operate crane for deployment / retrieval of oil recovery equipment, boom tenders and vessel supplies.

+ Supervise air monitoring and entry of Confined Spaces such as Ballast, Recovered Oil or Cargo Tanks and Voids.

+ Ensure that vessel is clean, orderly and stocked with adequate supplies and spare parts at all times.

+ Record all fuel, oil, water, cargo, supplies, trash and ballast loaded or discharged from the vessel.

+ Complete and distribute Monthly and Quarterly maintenance and reports which include, but are not limited to; Vessel and Equipment reports, Qualified Individual report, Emergency Procedures report and Vessel General Permit reports.

+ Record all personnel boarding the vessel and prepare documents each time the vessel changes location.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

+ At minimum, a valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential as Master 100 Ton (GRT) (Near Coastal) with Radar Observer endorsement. Personnel assigned to a vessel with International Load Line Certificate should possess at minimum a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential as Master of 500 Ton ITC with endorsements for Oceans and Radar Observer

+ Merchant Mariner Credential minimum rating as Ordinary Seaman; with endorsements for Survival Craft and Tankerman PIC.

+ At least three (3) years of sea service on Offshore Supply Boat, Small Passenger Vessels, Oil Recovery vessels, Towing Vessels and/or Tank Barges. At least one (1) year sea time must be in service sailing as Master on vessels greater than 85 gross tons.

+ Possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED.

+ Must be familiar with oil transfer procedures.

+ Possess or obtain at company expense 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification and maintain current 8-hour annual refresher certification.

+ Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License

+ Possess and maintain a valid Passport

+ Possess and maintain a valid TWIC

+ Possess or obtain at company expense Confined Space Entry, Attendant and Rescue certification.

+ Possess or obtain at company expense - API Rigger and Hydraulic Crane Operator certificates

+ Employee may live on board ship for extended periods of time.

+ Must be able to wear hard hat, steel-toed boots, personal flotation device, eye protection and respirator as necessary.

+ Ability and willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.
